In this
Basic Photography Tutorial, we will discuss about aperture.
In optics, an aperture is a hole or an opening through which light is admitted. More specifically, the aperture of an optical system is the opening that determines the cone angle of a bundle of rays that come to a focus in the image plane.

Large apertures (low f-numbers) reduce depth of field, blurring objects behind and in front of the main subject. Small apertures (high f-numbers) increase depth of field, bringing out details in the background and foreground. Short field depths are generally used in portraits to blur background details, ling field depths in landscape photographs bring the foreground and background into focus.
So what are you waiting for? Go get your camera out and start shooting with large and small aperture.
